AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED – Classroom Course
Develop the skills and confidence to provide first aid, perform CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in an emergency.
Our instructor-led classroom course combines teaching, practical demonstrations, hands-on practice and skills assessment.
Fee: €145 per person
Duration: Approximately six hours, plus a short online pre-course preparation quiz.
Who is this course for?
People with little or no medical training who want to learn first aid, CPR and AED skills for work, home or the community.
If you need certification for employment or another requirement, check with your employer or relevant organisation that this is the appropriate course. Healthcare professionals who require BLS Provider certification should choose our AHA BLS Provider course.
Before attending
Participants complete a short online pre-course preparation quiz before attending. This introduces key topics and helps us tailor the classroom teaching. The quiz link will be sent before the course.

First aid topics
- Scene safety, personal protection and assessment of an emergency
- Recognising medical emergencies, including heart attack, stroke and breathing difficulties
- Severe bleeding, shock and common injuries
- Applying direct pressure and a bandage
- Recognising a severe allergic reaction and using an adrenaline auto-injector
- Responding appropriately and activating emergency help
CPR and AED topics
- Recognising cardiac arrest and calling for emergency help
- High-quality CPR for adults, children and infants
- Giving effective rescue breaths
- Safe and effective AED use
- Helping a choking adult, child or infant
- Working with others during an emergency
- Awareness of opioid-associated and drowning emergencies
Practical training and assessment
You will practise with training equipment, receive instructor feedback and demonstrate the required skills. Successful completion requires meeting the applicable AHA course requirements.
Certification
Successful participants receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years.
This course awards Heartsaver certification. It does not award an AHA BLS Provider eCard.
